Dr Jesmin Shafiq MBBS MCN MPH is working in the field of health service research for more than a decade and experienced in cancer service evaluation research. She is trained in medicine and did her post-graduation in epidemiology and biostatistics. She has been working on various research projects under Collaboration of Cancer Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CCORE), a Cancer Service Research Group based at the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research in Sydney, Australia. Dr. Shafiq has been an active member of the team that achieved successful completion of many national and international cancer service research projects; the recent ones include a commonwealth funded project on ‘Review of radiotherapy optimal utilisation’ in 2012, WHO World Alliance for Patient Safety commissioned project on ‘Radiotherapy risk profile – A project aimed risk reduction in radiotherapy’ in 2009 and Institute of Medicine commissioned project on Cancer Control in low and middle-income countries in 2007. She is currently working on her PhD thesis on development of a population-based model of radiotherapy benefit for common cancers.
