Professor Jane Young is an epidemiologist with a medical background and specialist training as a public health physician. She holds the Chair in Cancer Epidemiology at the University of Sydney, is the Executive Director of the Surgical Outcomes Research Centre (SOuRCe) and is the Executive Director of Research for the RPA Institute of Academic Surgery based at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney. Professor Young is a Chief Investigator of the Sydney Catalyst Translational Cancer Research Centre and is a member of its Governing Council.
Professor Young has a passion for equitable cancer care and the improvement of the patient journey from primary and secondary prevention, early detection and evidence-based treatment. She undertakes population-based assessments of cancer care and outcomes and is the Principal Investigator of the CONNECT Program which is seeking to improve cancer care coordination. She also undertakes methodological work to develop and test novel measures, including measures of clinician equipoise and patient preference, and measures of the adequacy of cancer care coordination.
