Telehealth has become a significant driver within the health system driven by the promise of benefits for patients, providers and the health system coupled with possible cost savings. Given an ageing population and changing patterns of disease burden, innovative approaches to care are being sought. A range of applications are being used or tested in palliative care including videoconferencing, remote monitoring, virtual assessment, and e-learning. There are however challenges in designing and developing these applications and integrating them into routine care.
