Professor Suzanne Chambers is a registered nurse and health psychologist who has worked as a practitioner researcher in psychological support for people with cancer for over 20 years. Her current role is Professor of Preventative Health at the Griffith Health Institute (GHI) at Griffith University and she is a current Australian Research Council Future Fellow. She Chairs the Quality of Life and Supportive Care Committee for the Australia and New Zealand UroGenital and Prostate Cancer Trials Group and works in close association with the Cancer Council Queensland and Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. Professor Chambers has published extensively on the psychological aspects of cancer and is leading four current large scale randomised control trials of interventions that address decision support, couples and sexuality, and lifestyle and unmet supportive care needs for men with prostate cancer and psychological intervention for high distress Cancer Hepline callers. In 2011 Professor Chambers was named winner of the Clinical Research Award in the Australian Society for Medical Research (Qld) Health and Medical Research Awards for her work on cancer survivorship and has been awarded the William Rudder Fellow for 2013 by Cancer Council Queensland.
